Book Review

ONE HOT MESS
by Lois Greiman

Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Mystery, Amateur Sleuth

RT Rating

Wacky and wonderful Christina McMullen is a psychologist in need of some serious counseling herself. Greiman has created an outstanding series around Christina, her patients, family, friends and delicious boyfriend, Jack. The humor adds even more enjoyment and never detracts from the mystery.

Christina needs a new septic system -- and a fairy godmother to pay for it. Her prayers are answered when Senator Miguel Rivera, the estranged father of her sometimes boyfriend, Lieutenant Jack Rivera, offers to pay her to investigate the death of Kathleen Baltimore, who worked on the senator's campaign. Now that he's contemplating running for president, he wants to tidy up any past messes.

But Christina may have bitten off more than she can chew. She unearths some more suspicious deaths connected to the senator and seriously damages her relationship with Jack. Christina needs to figure out who's next on the killer's list -- and fast. (DELL, Apr., 336 pp., $6.99)
