While trying on clothes at a department store, Carmen Coyle hears a popping noise in the next dressing room and discovers that a woman has been murdered. Even more bewildering is that attempts are now being made on her life. While the police investigate, Carmen turns to her best friend, the unfortunately named J.R. Ewing. On
top of everything else, she is stunned to learn that J.R. has been in love with her for years. Carmen is about to find out if best friends who become lovers can still be best friends. Diane Pershing provides some surprising twists that make for an entertaining novel, but at times you want Carmen to get it together already in One Hot Target (3).
