OPERATION BABY RESCUE (3) by Beth Cornelison: Single mother Elise Norris is told that her baby died in childbirth. Soon after joining a grief support group, she receives an email telling her that her baby was stolen at birth. With the support of widower Jared Coleman, she uncovers a kidnapping scheme that is falsifying newborn deaths and arranging adoptions with unsuspecting parents. The characters are interesting and their situations dire, but the plot depends too heavily on coincidence to bring Jared and Elise together. Furthermore, the lack of questioning by the bereaved families at the time of their infants’ deaths doesn’t seem plausible.
