OPERATION: FORBIDDEN (3) by Lindsay McKenna: An international love affair starts when Capt. Emma Cantrell is on the front lines in Afghanistan. Her CO wants her to work with Capt. Khalid Shaheen. Khalid and his sister are wealthy Afghanis educated at Princeton. The siblings have set up a program to distribute books, food and supplies to the outlying villages threatened by the Taliban. But Khalid and his sister are in danger from a ruthless enemy who raped and killed Khalid’s fiancée. As Emma and Khalid fly from village to village, sparks fly between them, but they both have reasons for avoiding love. The story starts with necessary but somewhat slow explanation. And while Khalid and Emma are in danger, until Emma is in grave jeopardy at the end, much of the story seems repetitious.
