Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Mystery, Amateur Sleuth

RT Rating

Maffini's new series starring professional organizer and amateur sleuth Charlotte Adams is off to a brilliant start with this fast-paced mystery. Charlotte is a feisty, likable heroine, and all of the supporting characters (including Charlotte's two dachshunds) who reside in her hometown of Woodbridge, N.Y., are equally well drawn and fun. Maffini does an excellent job developing the mystery while drawing the reader into Charlotte's new, not-so-organized life in her old hometown.

Professional organizer Charlotte's life is definitely in need of some expert attention. Deciding to set up shop in her hometown of Woodbridge is the first step in Charlotte's plan to restart her life after a messy break-up with her cheating fiance. All is well until she finds new client -- and former teacher -- Miss Helen Henley dead, and herself in the middle of a murder mystery where she just might be a suspect. What else is there to do but make some lists and play detective? (BERKLEY PRIME CRIME, May, 288 pp., $6.99)
