Years after surviving the prom night accident that killed his best friend, Mick Montesantos, paramedic Brody
Austin returns to his hometown, expecting to be vilified by everyone. But even Mick's family is glad to see him -- particularly
her younger sister, Faith. A guidance counselor working with troubled teens, she volunteers to help Brody fix up his new place. Attraction blossoms, but Brody's feelings for Faith are jumbled up with his guilt
and pain about Mick. Lynda Sandoval's The Other Sister (4.5) has an extraordinary hero. The story is intensely emotional but also frequently very funny. This is top-notch.
