Maxwell Daniels, aka Max Dakota, an
ex-spy turned Randolph Security employee, finds a woman who materializes out of nowhere. "Annie Oakland" claims amnesia, but she also speaks and behaves strangely. Max questions her real identity, wary she may be involved with a drug
ring he's investigating. But the truth about Annie is that she's from a place neither would suspect. OUT OF NOWHERE (3) has a genuinely interesting premise, though at times Rebecca York seems to borrow somewhat blatantly from The X-Files. And the red herrings about her heroine's identity are oddly distracting, hinting at the idea that she is a mermaid.
