Book Review

THE OUTSIDER
by Ann H. Gabhart

Genre: Inspirational, Historical Romance

RT Rating

This is an amazing book about a group of people who just want to live their lives closer to God and keep outside influences at bay. Gabhart obviously did her research and gives life to a long-ago Shaker community. Readers will discover what life was like for one in 1812.

All her life, Gabrielle Hope has had the gift of seeing events before they happen, though sometimes she wishes she didn't. She is content living in the Shaker village and teaching the younger sisters. But when she meets
Dr. Brice Scott after a devastating fire, she begins to doubt their beliefs and also herself.

Dr. Scott believes in his heart that Gabrielle doesn't belong with the Shakers and tells her it's OK for men and women to marry. He sees he's made headway when the elders ask him to leave the village and never return. Unable to stand being so close to her without seeing her, he enlists
to serve as a doctor in the war. Then Gabrielle has a vision that will make
her choose once and for all which
world she really belongs in. (Revell,
