This lighthearted, fun tale has delightful main characters, some fascinating secondary ones and a fair amount of magic. The discoveries the hero and heroine make about themselves are nicely done, and the small town is a pleasure to visit.
Ambrose and Dorcus have been banished to Big Knob, Ind., to straighten out the resident dragon. Settling in, they befriend Sean, who is tired of having women throw themselves at him. When they offer to help him by changing him from a sex symbol into an average Joe, he agrees, just as he meets Maggie, his soul mate. Now he must charm her without his looks, something he finds impossible to do. (Onyx, Oct., 336 pp., $7.99)
