The small town of Broken Heart, Okla., is getting awfully crowded with paranormal critters -- so much so that it might be its downfall. The latest chapter in Bardsley's delightfully humorous series launches the action quickly and adds more danger to the mix. Humor is still a major factor, but the characters in this tale are fighting for their lives. Bardsley is one gifted storyteller!

The past is something mechanic, and recently turned vampire Simone Sweet just wants to leave it behind. As a single mom raising a child who will not speak, Simone has her hands full. But that doesn't stop her from noticing hunky human and former PRIS operative Brady Hayes. Broken Heart's growing supernatural population wants to make the town a sanctuary, so Simone's and Brady's technical skills come in handy. But their budding relationship is imperiled when murder is committed. Those who want to destroy all things supernatural are closing in! (SIGNET ECLIPSE, May, 320 pp., $6.99)
