With a slight twist on professions in this rich guy-poor girl story, Mac is the rich architect and Frankie the auto mechanic Mac keeps buying cars to have an excuse to visit. This novella is adorable, from Mac’s earnest pursuit of the girl who thinks she’s not good enough to the surprise ending. It’s a quick read, but the sexual tension before Mac and Frankie’s first date is delicious. If there’s one complaint, it’s that their story isn’t longer!

One bad experience in high school branded Frankie with a bad reputation. Add that to her job restoring vintage cars, and she knows she’s absolutely the wrong girl for Mac Galbraith. Mac doesn’t agree, however, and keeps bringing his cars into her shop, hoping to win her over. When he finally convinces Frankie to one date, Mac thinks he has his “in,” but Frankie has other plans. She wants a friends-with-benefits arrangement, and won’t give him anything else. Or will she? (SAMHAINPUBLISHING.COM, dl $3.50)
