Book Review

In the latest entry of the Jaine Austen mystery series, humor is still sprinkled throughout the whole book, but this story takes a little longer to get into. The mystery is well plotted but the constant references to food begin to get tiresome.

At first, Jaine Austen is excited to receive an all-expenses-paid vacation to a fancy spa. Then she gets there and becomes aware that her spa is really a weight-loss boot camp. She doesn’t think that she could be any more miserable, until movie star Mallory Francis shows up and takes over. No one is too surprised when Mallory is killed, but there are so many suspects that Jaine doesn’t even know where to begin. She must bring the killer to justice … while trying to find something decent to eat! (KENSINGTON, Aug., 240 pp., $22.00)
