A beautiful story about a simple man with an angel as his best friend and adviser who finds himself questioning himself and the decisions he has made throughout the years. Coffey will convince the reader that angels are real and that we each have our own angel talking in our ear at critical times in our lives.

Andy Sommerville has his own angel. He looks like an old man, which is exactly what Andy calls him. After Andy is savagely beaten and burned at his gas station, the Old Man informs Andy he is leaving. Andy can’t understand why, until he meets Elizabeth in the hospital and she asks him about the objects in his wooden box and what they mean to him. Through this telling Andy starts to realize his ordinary life has actually been extraordinary and has prepared him for the next phase of his life. (FAITHWORDS, Dec., 256 pp., $18.99)
