Summarizing this story's plot simply
isn't possible. New characters are
introduced, familiar ones revisited,
and the whole makes for an intensely
satisfying read. By turns humorous
and gut-wrenchingly emotional, it won't soon be forgotten.
Marine Corporal Rick Sudder has been through a lot in his young life -- the death of his parents, the loss of a child and leaving his girlfriend Liz and everyone else behind when he's deployed to Iraq. Now Rick's been severely wounded, and he refuses to let anyone help -- especially Liz. Rick wants her to move on and find someone else, since he thinks he no longer has anything to offer. But convincing Liz is going to take work. (MIRA, Apr., 416 pp., $6.99)
