Setting: American West

Elyse Graham is as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs since her outlaw brother started using her barn as a hideout.

When Texas Ranger Nathan Wellesley appears on her doorstep seeking shelter, Elyse must offer him hospitality. When they become caught up in a storm of emotions, Elyse chalks their lovemaking up to momentary madness and hastens Nathan on his way.

A year later Elyses brother turns himself in, and allows the rangers to use her as bait to capture the rest of the outlaws; sending out word that their money is hidden in her home.

Nathan is assigned to pose as a ranch hand to await the gangs arrival. Elyse does not want him too close for fear that he will guess the identity of her babys father.

Their life settles into an easy routine, until Nathan discovers that the child is his. When he threatens to claim his son Elyse flees, but Nathan finds her injured on the trail and brings her home. When the bandits return, Elyse and the baby are placed in jeopardy, forcing them both to acknowledge that nothing is as important as their love.

Passionate and absorbing, PASSIONS GIFT is the latest installment in Jane Kidders first rate Wellesley brother series, and is sure to please the many readers who enjoy lively, sensual, sweeping romances. SENSUAL (Mar., 581 pp., $4.99)
