PEEK-A-BOO PROTECTOR (4) by Rita Herron: Good-time girl Honey Dawson was trying to turn her life around and, with the birth of her twins, was on her way, until someone tried to kill her and her babies. With nowhere else to turn, she separates the babies and drops each with a trusted friend before disappearing. Samantha Corley returns home to find blood on her floor and a baby in her closet. Police Chief John Wise answers Sam's 911 call and his affection for tough but sensitive Sam fires a need to take care of her and the baby. The two follow Honey's trail from Georgia to Tennessee to Texas. Herron's terrific tale with sensitive characters and ongoing action dovetails neatly with the connecting story [see previous review].
