Returning from a business trip, marketing executive Sage Dunbar finds her bank account depleted. Even worse, her fiancé is the culprit. As if her life couldn't get any worse, she discovers her father rendezvousing at a cozy hotel with a woman who is not her mother.

Gabriel Blackwell's heart was torn to pieces when his girlfriend reunited with her ex and informed him of her decision days before he planned to propose marriage. Vowing to steer clear of women on the rebound, the successful engineer was reluctant to start a relationship with Sage.

And Sage is the first to admit that she's not ready for a serious relationship. However, after spending many Alaskan nights with a man as sexy as Gabe, she may have to reconsider her stance.

Readers will get a thrill out of reading the latest sequel by Brenda Jackson. Well-developed characters with entertaining personalities aid a smoothly flowing story. The only downside is the amount of time it takes the hero and heroine to finally decide the status of their relationship. (May, 293 pp., $24.00)
