THE PERFECT IMPOSTOR
This entertaining romance also has a good mystery and plenty of suspense. Though the hero is a bit hard to like at first, his actions are justifiable and he is a true hero in the end. The Regency ambiance is well done.
Friends from childhood, Katrina Sinclair and Julia Dupont’s lives are quite different. Katrina is struggling to establish herself as a modiste and Julia is an unhappily married marchioness. Katrina hopes that making Julia’s gowns will also make her reputation. She is shocked when Julia asks her, because of their similarity in looks, to take her place at a house party. Unfortunately, Lord Leo Kincade, a former suitor of Julia’s (and perhaps much more) unexpectedly shows up at the party to secretly investigate a string of thefts in which Julia is a suspect. Unbeknownst to Katrina, while she is playing her part, not only is Leo attracted to her, suspecting her charade, but her deceased husband’s brother is seeking to avenge his brother’s death — and he has his eye on her.
