When would-be teacher Sydney Gordon chaperones a high school trip to Europe, she meets Nick Martelli, a would-be writer who's helping his brother chaperone the same trip for a different school. Although she has a boyfriend back home who's just proposed to her, Sydney quickly falls for Nick, and the feeling is mutual. After she returns home, she's happily surprised when Nick shows up on her doorstep. Terry McLaughlin's A Perfect Stranger (4.5) combines likable, well-drawn characters with a fun and interesting plot to form a story that's a pleasure to read. Nick's and Sydney's personalities really shine through.
