Following the deaths of her adoptive parents, coffee shop owner Addison Fox decides to track down her biological parents. Sadly, Addison has no concept of the horrors that are about to be unleashed.

At the suggestion of her attorney, Addison calls on P.I. Jack Talbot but through a misunderstanding ends up working with Jack's brother Randall, a burnt out NTSB Agent suffering from post traumatic stress disorder.

After discovering her birth mother's identity, Addison learns that Agnes was brutally murdered three weeks earlier. Next, someone holds up her coffee shop, luckily Randall intervenes to save her life. And then panic sets in when Addison's attorney is also murdered.

At the rate they are going, even if Addison and Randall find out the truth behind these murders, they won't live long enough to share their knowledge.

A horrific act from the past is the catalyst for this nail-biting thriller. Linda Castillo takes readers on a dark and treacherous journey that is quite a read. (Aug., 352 pp., $5.99)
