Sacrifice and vengeance are key themes in this frightening, fast-paced thriller. There's driven hero who's sacrificed much for his family, and a heroine who has trust and vengeance issues. These two protagonists are not playing by the rules. As a bonus, overarching plot threads indicate the danger may be only rising!

After her partner's murder, Terri Mitchell decides to join the secret Bureau of American Defense. Former special-ops agent Nathan Drake sacrificed his career to keep his brother out of prison, only for Jamie to be murdered. Determined to avenge his death, Nathan hunts the Marseaux crime family, while Terri is determined to clear her own name and take down those responsible. Joining forces with Nathan may not be wise, but Terri doesn't have much choice. If a secretive group has its way, a biological terrorist attack is just step one. (POCKET, Jun., 404 pp., $15.00)
