Book Review

by Mercedes Lackey, James Mallory

Genre: Fantasy, General Fantasy

RT Rating

Lackey and Mallory continue to develop their intriguing characters and expand their world in the second book of the Enduring Flame series. The two protagonists grow while staying true to their roots, and their villain is complex and sympathetic. Shaiari, perhaps the best character in the series, gets a larger role and helps mold the satisfying plot in this enjoyable read.

The mages Tiercel and Harrier, along with Tiercel's bonded dragon, Ancaladar, continue to search for the Wildmage Bisochim. They must make their way through privation and war in order to find and subvert him. The desert peoples, the Isvaieni, have been deceived by Bisochim and set out to make war on the Iteru, cities which border the great desert. Only the tribe led by Shaiari has managed to escape Bisochim's influence. Can Shairi's tribe and the two young mages stop the destruction the dark magic is intent on bringing to the worlds?
