Slan delivers a great story with the latest edition of her Kiki Lowenstein mysteries. This book deals with the aftermath of the explosive conclusion that took place in the previous book. She creates an interesting tale with major twists and turns thrown in to keep the series fresh. It’s a great entry in an enjoyable series.

Kiki is pregnant and has just been in a shoot-out where her boyfriend’s soon-to-be-ex-wife, Brenda Detweiler, shot and wounded her. When she is released from the hospital, her friends and co-workers surprise her with a party. Unfortunately, the party is broken up by the news that Brenda has been found dead. The main suspect is none other than Chad Detweiler, Kiki’s boyfriend. Between trying to find evidence to clear Chad, dealing with the fact that her boss’s cancer has come back, and trying to find answers to the years-old death of her boss’s son, Kiki is up to her ears in mysteries.
