Addressing a complicated, painful topic with thoughtful consideration, this novel tells a powerful story about grudges, secrets and family loyalty. The characters are developed with depth and consideration, and the story will get into the reader’s mind and remain long after the final pages.

Brook and Michael Bostock head out to a party one evening, feeling comfortable that their beloved babysitter, Phoebe, can watch their younger daughter until their teenage son, Liam, returns from school. When Liam brings two friends with him, lives are changed forever. Phoebe is assaulted, but the truth about who’s to blame is left unspoken. The boys take the blame at first, having given Phoebe the alcohol, but time and legalities lead to even harsher blame for Brook and Michael, who are painted as neglectful parents. Past resentments are uncovered, and families are pushed to the brink of destruction. The truth is the only thing that can set these families free and give them a chance to heal.
