PLACEBO
by Steven James

Genre: Inspirational, Mystery/Thriller/Suspense

RT Rating

You’ve heard the buzz surrounding a Steven James novel, but may have been too chicken to read one. Well, his new series featuring Jevin Banks is pleasantly less gruesome, but still features the spellbinding, masterful storytelling James’ fans have come to expect. The ending may be a bit convenient, but overall, Placebo is an edgy, multilayered thriller that may have you fearful every time someone says, “Oh, I’ve been thinking about you.”

Escape artist, magician and exposé filmmaker Jevin Banks is in a predicament that he may not be able to escape. On a seemingly routine assignment to investigate and shut down a program that explores direct mind-to-mind communication, he gets entangled in a plot that threatens national security. With time ticking away and people dying, Jevin must uncover the truth before it is too late. (REVELL, Nov., 416 pp., $14.99)
