PLAIN JANE AND THE PLAYBOY (3) by Marie Ferrarella Just ditched by her boyfriend, teacher Jane Gilliam is tempted to stay home on New Year's Eve. But at a party hosted by the Fortune Foundation, she meets local playboy Jorge Mendoza while he's tending bar. He flirts with her, and they share a scorching kiss at midnight. Jane knows what develops isn't forever, but what Jorge doesn't say is that Jane's the one woman who could make him consider settling down. Ferrarella kicks off a new Fortunes miniseries with a charming hero, who will appeal to most, and a delightfully strong-minded heroine. What's missing is any meaningful conflict.
