Colleen Coble recreates life in the late 1800s with her gentle story about a distrusting widow, Emmie Croftner, and a caring soldier, Isaac Liddle, in PLAINS OF PROMISE (3). Through the hardships of living at Fort Phil Kearny, Emmie learns to forget her past and trust God, while Isaac, a genuine hero, waits for her to realize how she feels about him. Ms. Cobles writing draws the reader into the story with a pleasant blend of emotion and historical information.
