The third installment of this series is filled with action, adventure and profound spiritual truth. Sam's visions and dreams are unusual, and Carlson writes about them with grace and ease. The first-person account feels intimate, and readers will warm to Sam's intense personality. The book contains themes relevant to adults and teens.

Samantha is concerned for her brother Zach. He's completing a stint in rehab for his meth addiction, but Sam has been warned that he may go back to using drugs again. When she has a frightening dream about an explosion in a meth lab, she knows she can't just sit back and do nothing.

Sam becomes an undercover informant for the police meth task force and looks for connections between drugs and people she knows from school. Can she use her gifts and her relationship with the police to help her brother -- or is it too late? (MULTNOMAH, Aug., 256 pp., $12.99)
