Book Review

PLAYING HARD TO GET
by Grace Octavia

Genre: Mainstream, Multicultural

RT Rating

Octavia’s characters are individual, with distinct voices. Entertaining and packed with drama and an original storyline, it’s clear that Octavia is talented with a great imagination and storytelling ability.

Tamia has a great job and boyfriend, but she’s not happy and takes drastic measures to find her true self. Troy has intimacy issues with her preacher husband that leave her frightened and unsure. Tasha is an undervalued stay-at-home mom, married to an NBA player and in search of her own identity. The 3Ts, as they call themselves, serve as one another’s support system as they work to change their lives. (DAFINA, Jul., 320 pp., $15.00)
