Spymaster Jared Westbrooke, Earl of Hawkesly, is not amused when his wife doesn't recognize him. But Kathryn hasn't laid eyes on her husband since they quickly exchanged of vows on the deck of a ship in Egypt two years ago.

After the ceremony, Jared left on a mission and Kathryn set out to help the famine-ravaged people of Ireland. To finance her endeavors, she turned his hunting lodge into a sportsmen's lodge where the well-heeled come to participate in hunting and fishing tournaments.

When Jared finally arrives home, she thinks he is there for a fishing tournament and doesn't recognize him. However, it doesn't take long for them to discover each other's secrets.

Worldly yet naive, Kathryn is a delightful, complex heroine. Jared is a strong but gentle hero. Needham has created a story with secrets and surprises aplenty, peopled with a colorful cast of memorable characters and a satisfying ending. Carve out an afternoon to read this enjoyable romance.
