Evanovich issues another between-the-numbers Stephanie Plum novella. This Valentine's Day treat focuses on relationships and love, with Stephanie forced into being a replacement matchmaker. Even in a very short novel, nothing goes smoothly, and laughter is guaranteed.

Bounty hunter Stephanie only has one big case, but she knows she's in trouble when the mysterious Diesel, a human with extra-special abilities, shows up. It turns out Stephanie's case and Diesel's are related, and in order for Stephanie to claim the bounty for "relationship expert" Annie Hart, she'll have to play matchmaker for five of Annie's most difficult clients. As if Stephanie didn't have enough romantic trouble of her own, juggling her feelings for both Joe and Ranger. She's in over her head once again! (ST. MARTIN'S, Jan., 164 pp., $16.95)
