POETRY MAN (3) by Melanie Schuster: Alexis Sharp is tired of being celibate and single. Taking the advice of her friends, she writes a list of all the characteristics that she desires in a man, the first three items being tall, dark and handsome. Enter Jared VanBuren, who meets all of the qualifications with one exception — he is white. Sharp is swept away in a whirlwind of romance, poetry and making love, but does not know if she can withstand the challenges of an interracial relationship. Readers will appreciate Schuster’s steamier-than-usual love scenes, but the book’s downfall is a lack of conflict, other than the slight insecurities of the lead female character.
