Dr. Lou Welcome returns in this medical/political thriller. The military medical conspiracy is frightening, while Lou’s interactions with his daughter and his blossoming romantic interest in a tough attorney provide some breaks from the merciless pace of the investigation. Suspend disbelief that an ER doctor can, or should, attempt some of these actions and enjoy the ride.
At the Physician Wellness Center, Lou has been supervising Dr. Gary McHugh, who has a drinking problem. When Senator Colston is found murdered after a visit from McHugh, and it becomes known that McHugh was having an affair with the senator’s wife, McHugh asks Lou to try to clear him. Lou agrees to help, over the objections of McHugh’s attorney, who distrusts doctors. Lou finds some odd items in Colston’s office and begins to unravel clues about a secret military program. (ST.
