The second installment of the Stay-at-Home Dad series is a laugh riot. There are touching moments sprinkled among the fun that keep the story grounded, while some unusual circumstances keep the reader eager to read the next page.
When the president of the Rose Petal Youth Soccer Association goes missing with all their money and soccer trophies, the association asks Deuce Winters to step in and find the missing items. Apart from his duties as husband and stay-at-home father to his 5-year-old daughter, he works part time as a private investigator. He reluctantly agrees to take the case after consulting with his partner, who is even more skeptical. They find a maelstrom of more thefts, an odd gambling ring and the thief’s cousin, another loser. Amidst all the confusion, Deuce and his wife are trying for an addition to their family — without much success. (KENSINGTON, Sep., 320 pp., $7.99)
