Genre: Paranormal/Urban Fantasy, Vampire, Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy

In the fourth outing of the Dark Days series, Drake shifts the first-person narrative thread from vampire Mira to vampire hunter Danaus. The change of perspective gives a different view on events and the frenemy relationship that exists between these protagonists. As Drake cranks up the danger she gives this book a truly ominous tone. The cliffhanger ending will leave readers anxious for the next intense installment.

Hunter Danaus is truly conflicted by his reactions to Mira. For millennia Danaus has killed vampires, believing they were truly evil. But with the return of the Naturi and their quest to wipe humanity from the face of the earth, vampires and lycan may be more ally than enemy. Danaus returns to Mira’s domain, Savannah, because of the murder of a senator’s daughter. Was the killer a vampire? Or was it someone trying to bring the existence of supernatural creatures to light?
As Mira and Danaus work to uncover the truth, they discover a frightening new threat. The Bori, who owns half of Danaus’ soul, is trying to break through to this plane as well — something that absolutely cannot be allowed to happen! (EOS, Jul., 400 pp., $7.99)
