Book Review

by Kara Taylor

Genre: Young Adult, Mystery

RT Rating

Good YA mysteries are rare. Taylor gives it the old college try and winds up better than most. Taylor’s book shines with a truly puzzling plot, a grisly murder that speaks to her audience’s maturity and a couple of good red herrings. Her sleuth, while she’s no Miss Marple, is charming and wise beyond her years.

Anne Dowling got into a tiny little scrape at her fancy Manhattan school and landed herself at secluded, preppy Wheatley. Determined to be on her best behavior and earn her way home again, Anne vows to stay out of trouble. But trouble has a way of finding her. When her roommate is murdered, Anne must reclaim her bad-girl ways to solve the crime. (ST. MARTIN’S, Aug., 304 pp., $9.99, ISBN: 9781250017598, PB, 12 & Up)
