Book Review

Cabot has a talent for writing stories that deal with light issues but are gripping to read. This latest Princess Diaries book offers more of the same fun of the other five.

After a summer in Genovia, Mia is back in America to start her sophomore year of high school. Lilly has a brilliant plan that involves Mia involuntarily running for student council president, and Grandmère gets in on it.

Lana freaks Mia out by stressing
that, now that Michael is in college,
he's definitely going to want to "do
it." And Mia's hippie mom, teacher
stepdad and new baby brother are
still as odd and sweet as Mia herself.

Cabot even takes some sly jabs at
the Disney movies based on her books. Mia's light, honest voice helps make this a book you'll want to gulp down in one sitting. (Mar., 288 pp., $16.99)
