Navigating through the tangled relationships of the Culvert family in Anna Adams' THE PRODIGAL COUSIN (3) takes some doing, but it's time well spent. Eliza Culvert never told anyone about the son she gave birth to 40 years ago, so the entire family is shocked when Sam Lockwood turns up looking for his birth mother. Sam only wants some sense of family for his two daughters, but Eliza's adopted daughter Molly provides him with potential for a future— if they can get beyond their equally troubled pasts. Adams offers an interesting twist on an old idea in this enjoyable tale.
