PROMISE ME THIS
by Cathy Gohlke

Genre: Inspirational, Historical Romance

RT Rating

This grabs the reader from the first sentence. The characters are well defined; one of them is based on an actual passenger on the Titanic who did not survive. Gohlke respects the ship and the victims, giving them a voice as their story unfolds. Readers will come away with a fresh understanding of that horrible day.

Michael Dunnagan was not supposed to be on the Titanic, but he stowed away. When a passenger, Owen Allen, discovers him, a strong friendship forms. When they hit the iceberg, Owen forces a promise from Michael, that he will take care of Owen’s younger sister back in England. When Annie Allen learns of her brother’s death, she feels completely alone. The last thing she wants is a friendship with a stranger, but as the months — and many letters — go by, she changes her mind. When he finally has the funds to bring Annie to America, WWI causes them to lose contact, but he is determined to find the woman he loves. (TYNDALE, Feb., 400 pp., $14.99)
