THE PROMISES SHE KEEPS
Healy has a unique style of writing that will intrigue some readers and confuse others. It’s a bit difficult to pluck the meaning and overall theme from the fanciful storyline, but the writing is descriptive and will draw you into the action.
Promise has suffered from cystic fibrosis her entire life, but dreams of becoming a singer. Porta is a witch who owns an art gallery, wanting to let the art lead her to the one person who will allow her to be immortal. The person connecting all these women is Chase, an autistic young man with a true gift for drawing pictures that have great meaning to people. (THOMAS NELSON, Feb., 352 pp., $14.99)
