This new addition to Mann’s Dark Ops series has great suspense along with an intriguing mystery which makes it a page-turner. Though the romance between the hero and heroine is fast, hot and intense, the secondary one involving one of the hero’s comrades, while hot, is also sweeter.
Jolynn Taylor wants no part of her father’s sleazy, sometimes dangerous world, but she misses him and when he suffers a heart attack, she returns to be with him. Since his recent capture and torture by enemy forces, Captain Chuck Tanaka believes that he’s only good for desk duty. Yet when the opportunity arises to bring down a terrorist cell, he goes undercover as a blackjack dealer on a cruise ship. His job of checking out mob boss daughter Jolynn takes a dangerous turn when it becomes apparent someone is trying to kill her. It also breaks his cover, to Jolynn at least, which leads to an involvement with one another that neither could have ever imagined. (BERKLEY SENSATION, Mar., 304 pp., $7.99)
