Senate's relatable story involves two sisters struggling to secure their future while gaining closure on their past. Her writing has matured and is smooth, flowing easily as she moves within timeframes and storylines. Senate broaches heavy topics of single motherhood, abandonment and true love, and does so with a flourish of witty, complicated and realistic characters, subtle humor and emergent relationships.
