Rachel Barlow is horrified when J.D. Stanley shows up on her doorstep. She wants to forget the cowboy who broke her heart, but he turns out to be a family friend. When Rachel comes down with pneumonia, she is sent to J.D.'s ranch to recuperate. The second installment in Judy Christenberry's Children of Texas miniseries, Rachel's Cowboy (2) gets off to a slow start, bogged down by backstory. In spite of some interesting details about life on a Texas cattle ranch, the story relies too much on the main characters' inability to communicate with each other.
