Barnes has written a strong start to what will surely be a fascinating series. Bryn is a brave and fierce young girl. Not just another werewolf story, this is a wonderful addition to the paranormal genre.

At the young age of 4, Bryn’s family was attacked and killed by a rogue werewolf, leaving only her alive. Marked and taken in by one of her werewolf rescuers, Callum, Bryn has grown up as one of the pack. Now 15, Bryn discovers Chase locked in a cage in a basement, and her memories about her parents’ death returns. Bryn is left with many questions, and hates the fact that nobody will answer them. She finds herself on opposite ends with Callum, and must search for her own truth. (EGMONT, Jun., 432 pp., $17.99, ISBN: 9781606840597, HC, 12 & Up)
