Seabrooks London season is turning into a nightmare because of her beautiful sisters jealous fits and the malice of an unknown assailant. Although Mary is shy and retiring, she has attracted the attentions of handsome Lord Grayson, the man for whom her sister has an infatuation. Lord Grayson is already delighted with his new love, but when attempts on his life add to the fuel of old vicious rumors, it is Mary who steps in to help him solve the mystery. THE RAKE AND THE WALLFLOWER (2) by Allison Lane is a good, solid story with a pair of likeable lovers, but it suffers from a confusing wealth of history presented too briefly to be easily absorbed.
