Linden carries off a smart, sexy love story about a mature couple caught in a tender and tempestuous relationship. Readers will truly care about the lively characters and enjoy the well-crafted plot of this gripping novel.

Anthony Hamilton is the definition of a rake, and he revels in the gossip his reputation brings. There's only one person who sees into his heart: his best friend's sister, Celia Reece, a young girl full of dreams of love and completely unattainable for a man with Anthony's reputation. He knows it's best that she marry another, but when she's widowed and disillusioned by an unhappy marriage, she longs for Anthony's smile, wit and sensuality.

Anthony remembers how she chose him as her hero and takes this chance to win her as his own. He won't allow her mother's matchmaking, the gossips' whispers or his own feelings of inadequacy to interfere with his plans. He never counts on Celia's willingness to explore the passion that sizzles between them. (Zebra, Jun., 380 pp., $5.99)
