Moving back to her hometown after her divorce is only temporary, thinks teacher Maggie Harrison Sinclair --
at least until she gets friendly with
childhood friend and rancher Wayne Hammond, a man out to convince Maggie that Tucker, Mont., has more to offer than she thinks. Terry McLaughlin's The Rancher Needs a Wife (4) is full of smart dialogue and great characters. Wayne's shyness is well depicted, as are Maggie's feelings regarding her divorce. McLaughlin's writing is good, and the story is well paced.
