Wonderful characters who are struggling with their personal demons have a chance to put them to rest with the help of family. Lacy does a wonderful job with the medical details and explaining the cultural revolution in China in the 1960s. Readers will race to the end to find out the outcome.

Gloria Powell’s rebellious teenager, Lily, keeps her at arms’ length. When Gloria and her husband meet Dr. Kai Wang, Lily’s biological sister, they are not prepared for the information Kai gives them. Lily might have a genetic defect that could kill her if it is not treated. Gloria is scared Lily will want to be with her sister and she will lose her forever.
