Loaded with mouthwatering recipes and clever plotting, the latest Hannah Swensen mystery delights. The detailed mystery is a sweet treat and the thrilling showdown in a darkened penthouse on a stormy night is the icing on top.

As the June heat blankets Lake Eden, Minn., Hannah dresses up for the grand opening of the newly renovated Albion Hotel, which includes luxury condos and the Red Velvet Lounge. Her shop is catering dessert and her old nemesis, Doctor Bev, is attending the event with the hotel’s owner. The party is a success until police secretary Barbara Donnelly falls off the roof of the penthouse garden. Foul play is suspected, but Barbara’s memory of the event is faulty. Meanwhile, Doctor Bev continues to stir up trouble in Lake Eden — until her new car and dead body end up in the lake. The police consider Hannah the prime suspect. Can Hannah uncover the link between the two crimes before her baking days are over for good? (KENSINGTON, Mar., 323 pp., $25.00)
