THE RELUCTANT TEXAS RANCHER (3) by Cathy Gillen Thacker: When a devious heiress turns on attorney Travis Anderson and the bar suspends his license, he shows up at his high school sweetheart Liz Cartwright’s family ranch with a proposition — handle his malpractice case and he’ll work the ranch to pay off the bill. Liz’s practice is small, but her family’s need is great, so she takes him on, determined to put the pain of their past behind them and keep Travis at a distance. But Travis wants to start over again with the woman he never forgot and is taking this opportunity to convince Liz they are meant to be together. This is a perfectly fine story, but there’s not enough chemistry between the characters.
